Imagine you could just click a button and then go on the most epic adventure of your life? Well I did a thing. That was the thing.
Flash back to two weeks ago, I set foot on British soil for the first time since moving back to Zimbabwe. The night before, I said goodbye to my boys, nervously drank whiskey on the rocks at the airport, gave my man a few last kisses and boarded a 12 hour flight to my own epic adventure of couch surfing and events-related shenanigans.
The flight from Harare to Kigali was uneventful. I experienced a fleeting view of Kigali's lights from the runway during the stopover. I'm still not sure why, but my seat on the flight had been upgraded to premium economy and I had a whole row to myself on an otherwise full flight. I landed, grabbed my luggage, and set off to find a coffee. Heathrow's Nero was packed to the brim of people coming and going. The only available place to sit was with a complete stranger traveling to Guernsey from an 8 week sabbatical in Thailand. We spoke about various adventure sports. Her favorites, mountain biking and surfing. Mine, a newfound interest in kite surfing and some experience with motoX through my man and little men back home. She thought she had successfully avoided a cold winter and was going home to enjoy the spring. It really wasn't spring outside. It was still damn cold...
